Research

Research is the 1st and foremost step. A discussion topic is selected for three months. Our team of research assistants compile a comprehensive list of the most recent studies and research findings related to the chosen topic. We meticulously analyze the latest research, extracting and organizing the important information. This technique serves as a valuable resource for our field team, guiding them through discussions and debates in the field.

We remain impartial on the topic and instead focus on aggregating evidence from a diverse range of research sources.

Socratic dialogues /
Table Talks

In places like schools, colleges, beauty parlors, squatter settlements, and households throughout Pakistan, starting in Lahore, we host a variety of interactions. Some of these are structured, while others take the form of open discussions.

Each session typically begins with a brief 5-minute introduction where we introduce ourselves, our discussion topic, its significance, and our goals. We encourage the sharing of ideas and invite everyone to participate. During this phase, we prioritize listening to each participant’s views without interruptions or cross-talk, going around the room to ensure everyone has a chance to speak.

Following this, we open the floor for debates on the merits and demerits of the topic. We also encourage individuals to share their personal stories, fostering a sense of community and commonality without judgment.

Our team is trained to engage in Socratic questioning, leaving discussions open-ended rather than aiming for settled answers. We draw upon the tradition of “Munahzara” (deliberative discussions) and offer examples.
